For 30 years, training has been a core value at Akal Global, delivered through our dedicated training division - Akal Protective Services Training Academy (PSTA). PSTA was built with the protective service and law enforcement professional in mind. Today, PSTA's approach to training is comprehensive, formal and effective, providing a strong foundation for our commitment to service and protect. We are the premier training venue in the Mid-Atlantic region for the protective services community.

PSTA’s Instructional Systems Design (ISD)-based curriculum encompasses Security, Emergency Management, Risk Management, Resiliency, Conflict Resolution, Cultural Awareness, Foreign Travel Safety, and Survival in Austere Environments.

PSTA also provides a complete set of services to private protective services companies including facility rental, certification services, training, and staffing. Government and law enforcement agencies also regularly train their staff at the PSTA.

Our Director of Training manages a learning organization that is continually strengthening the quality of Akal’s programs and integrating best practices from the leading law enforcement, military and security training centers.

PSTA trains over 10,000 personnel every year, delivering a wide range of courses, targeted to the skills and knowledge that serve our clients’ security needs and meet their specific requirements.

PSTA bases all training activities on a rigorous four-part approach:

  • A Training Doctrine clearly defines the mission, standards, and integrity at the foundation of every training program.
  • A plan for Training Management that establishes clear individual accountability and formal operating procedures for achieving training goals.
  • A professional curriculum development model that is applied to every course PSTA delivers, using the widely recognized Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology.
  • Instructor Training and Certification methods and standards ensure that every PSTA trainer is qualified, prepared and certified in the skills to be taught.
